One of the phrases that triggers me the most is ‘I will try’.

When I hear this, I already know that you are telling me no. I am just not sure if you are clueless that you are not going to do it.

When is the last time you ‘tried’ to pay your bills?

I am sure that if you try for too long, your electricity gets shut off.

The opposite of try is to commit. Commitment is a declaration of moving in a forward direction.

If I were to hand you my book and said, ‘try to pick it up’, would you pick up the book?

If you did, you over exceeded on ‘trying to pick up the book’. You took the action and did more than ‘try’. However, you do not notice the word try in the scenario since it was something easy to do. When it gets harder, you hold onto the statement of ‘but I tried’.

Trying comes from a victim stance where committing comes from an ownership stance.

You choose = do you want to be a victim of your world or are you ready to take ownership in your life?

Over the weekend, see how often you can hear people (yourself included) say they are trying. Or are they taking ownership and responsibility of their own lives and are committed?

Much love,
Trudi
